Woman Hurt, Man Killed In Westminster Crash

WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) -- The Carroll County Sheriff's Office says a woman was killed and a man injured when the truck they were in failed to negotiate a curve and hit several trees.

It happened early Saturday on Nicodemus Road in Westminster. Deputies say a truck driven by Adriana Passaretti, 20, of Sykesville crossed the double yellow line, left the road and hit several trees.

The Carroll County Times reports that Passaretti and her passenger, Kristopher Myers, 22, of Union Bridge, were flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore. Passaretti died, and Myers was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputies say alcohol and excessive speed were factors in the accident.
