Woman, Child Dead After Blaze At Charles County Home
WALDORF, Md. (AP) -- Authorities say a woman and a child were killed in a Charles County house fire.
Charles County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Diane Richardson says firefighters called to the 15000 block of Poplar Hill Road in Waldorf around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday found heavy fire coming from the home.
Fire officials say a woman and boy were found dead. Officials say one firefighter was taken to a hospital with a back injury, but has been released.
Four people were able to escape the blaze without injury.
The fire marshal and sheriff's office are investigating the cause of the blaze. Richardson says at this time foul play does not appear to be a factor.
