WEATHER BLOG: Rainy Days

A trough will remain across the East early this week, which will not only maintain the cooler weather, but also create several opportunities for precip due to a couple of jet stream disturbances rotating through the aforementioned trough. These disturbances will encourage a couple zones of low pressure to form on a cold/stationary front draped over the Deep South. Rain showers will congregate around these low pressure zones as they pass along the front (just to the south of the area).

One such zone of low pressure/jet stream disturbance will pass near the area from late Sunday into early Monday, bringing some showers to the region. Somewhat drier air will then return during the day Monday. However, cool air aloft associated with the large dip in the jet stream will keep conditions sufficiently unstable in the atmosphere to cause puffy cumulus clouds to form .. a few of which may bring a fleeting shower or t-shower in the afternoon.

Another disturbance will encourage a wave of low pressure to pass near the region later on Tuesday into Wednesday .... causing more showers to arrive Tuesday afternoon/evening into probably a portion of Wednesday.

An important take home from this forecast discussion, however, is that despite the multiple opportunities for showers, the early to mid-week period will not be a "rainy" time ... just a time of numerous clouds and some showers and, of course, cooler temperatures!
