WEATHER BLOG: Nice Day

The all-time record Baltimore high was set back on this date in the notoriously warm year of 1936. Fortunately, we are not dealing with temperatures close to that number Tuesday. Instead, we are dealing with a very typical mid-July afternoon - temperatures in the upper 80s and a few thunderstorms scattered about.

The front that stalled to our south is still there, and will be for a few days. Even though it's south of us, it's close enough to produce a few areas of showers and thunderstorms across Maryland. Those thunderstorms are bubbling up, and then will rain themselves out fairly quickly. Nothing is severe at this point, and there's not a big chance of severe weather Tuesday - if any chance.

There is still the chance for a pop up shower or thunderstorm Wednesday and Thursday with the front to our south. Those chances will increase, though, Thursday night through the weekend. That's because a new low will move along the stalled front, re-energizing it and drawing it back up to the north as a warm front. Expect more widespread thunderstorms when that happens.

Temperatures will continue to run close to the average of 88 degrees through the week, and may bump back to the low 90s over the weekend.
