WEATHER BLOG: Colder Weather
Hi Everyone,
What a beautiful star filled sky this morning. These Winter domes of high pressure are great for checking out the universe around us. 21 degrees this day start with a wind chill of 5-10. Cold, but look up..those numbers would be blistering hot out in parts of the Cosmos. With the popularity of the movie, "The Martian" Let's take Mars for example.
This from Space.com:
"Mars atmosphere is about 100 times thinner than Earth. Without a thermal blanket Mars cannot retain any heat energy. THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE ON MARS IS ABOUT -80 DEGREES. In the Martian Winter the temperature at the poles can fall as low as -195. During the Martian Summer at its Equator, at Noon, the temperature can rise to +70, but at night fall to -100."
Five to ten above zero does not look to extreme now.
Tomorrow and into the weekend we will see a warmup to 50, and at times slightly above, Nice. But if you were a Martian you WOULD call Earths Winter time numbers extreme. As I like to say weather is all about location. Here on the 3rd rock from the Sun the location works!
