WEATHER BLOG: Big Picture

The region will experience four different weather regimes this week, each with a different "feel" to the air!

Regime I: Dry and very pleasant (Sunday-Monday)

Regime II: A bit unsettled with more clouds and times of showers and some t-storms (Tue-Wed)

Regime III: Summerlike! (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) ... could conclude with a gusty t-storm late Friday/Saturday

Regime IV: Return to dry, cool and pleasant (Sunday)

Discussion:
Canadian high pressure will build across the Northeast on Sunday providing a stellar spring day with abundant sunshine and temperatures just a couple degrees below normal. The high will nestle over the region Sunday night. The clear skies and light winds will allow temperatures to fall off quickly, especially outside urban areas, where readings will fall to near freezing and areas of frost may form.

Monday: day begins sunny then clouds will increase later in the p.m. as low pressure developing on a warm frontal zone draped across the Ohio Valley approaches the East Coast. The thickening clouds will yield rain at night.

Tuesday: the low will move from Pennsylvania to off the New Jersey coast bringing numerous clouds and a few showers. Most of the rain is expected in the morning. Rain totals by nightfall will probably average between a quarter and a half inch. The front portion to the low will stall near or just south of the region.
