Utah Police Officer Delivers Own Daughter On Side Of Road

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — When his wife went into labor at 3 a.m., Utah police officer Travis Clark turned on his cruiser's lights and sirens and sped toward the hospital. But he wasn't fast enough for baby Bexleigh.

The Unified Police Department says Clark's wife's labor progressed quickly after the couple left their Eagle Mountain home. Clark asked for a paramedic to them halfway to the hospital, but was forced to pull over at a Saratoga Springs intersection to deliver his own daughter.

Clark's colleagues congratulated the couple over the radio and a dispatcher told him baby Bexleigh was born at 3:28 a.m.

Police say Bexleigh and her mother, Paige, are doing well and resting at the hospital. Bexleigh weighs 6 pounds, 7 ounces and is 18 1/2 inches tall.
