U.S. Navy Announces Summer Mentor Program For Baltimore's Youth
BALTIMORE (WJZ)—The United States Naval Academy has announced a pilot program to mentor the youth in Baltimore.
Summer Heroes Youth Program (SHYP) will assist approximately 50 of Baltimore's youth focusing on leadership, team building , as well as Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
Midshipman will engage the students with hands-on academic activities and sports exercise.
Officials say the pilot program will launch during the summer 2016 during the weeks of June 13-17 and June 20-24.
