Two Columbia Teens Charged For Recent Burglaries

COLUMBIA, Md. (WJZ) -- Howard County Police charged two 16-year-old Columbia boys for a series of home burglaries.

On Jan. 22, a resident reported that someone had entered his home and stolen jewelry and electronics, including an iPad.

The victim used the "Find My iPad" app to give police the device's location.

This information, put together with additional evidence found at the crime scene, led police to identify a suspect.

Detectives served a search warrant at the suspect's home and located the iPad and other stolen items.  The teen was then taken into custody.

As police were obtaining evidence from the first suspect's residence, they found evidence that led them to a second suspect.

A search warrant was served at the second teen's home, where officials found property stolen in various burglaries, including electronics, video gaming systems, purses and shoes.

He also was taken into custody.

Both suspects have been charged with burglary and theft in the following case:

Jan. 22, 8700 block of Birkenhead Court, Laurel: A resident reported that someone had entered the home and stolen jewelry and electronics.
