BLOG: The Brian Roberts Mystery
I'll be the first to admit I did not see Brian Roberts in his prime as an everyday player on the Orioles. I was obviously living in New York and paying closer attention to my own beat. But I'm willing to bet you have all come to terms with the fact that Roberts is not the player he used to be since he clearly cannot stay healthy enough to play a full season. This is only my second season here in Baltimore so I have only seen injury after injury. What are your thoughts on the second base situation and BRob's health issues. How much of a disappointment is this for everyone... I know he's a fan favorite here.
As of yesterday before the game, just to update you, there was nothing new on Roberts' health or schedule. I had heard he would be heading back to Pittsburgh on the 13th but he finally made it out to Pitt yesterday to see concussion specialist Dr. Michael Collins who told Brian he could increase his workouts in Sarasota. But at this rate, since he has not resumed baseball activities, we have to assume we will not see Roberts for the remainder of the season. And is that the way the organization should plan ahead.... without him?
