Source: Ed Reed's Brother May Have Been Found
NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Searchers have recovered a body from the Mississippi River near where Brian Reed, the brother of Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed, jumped into the water after being confronted by a deputy sheriff earlier this month.
Tim Miller of Texas EquuSearch told WWL-TV on Tuesday that while they can't confirm anything until an autopsy is complete, they do believe it is Reed's body.
The recovery ends a seven-day search that utilized sonar and dragging operations as crews scoured the river and fought its rough currents for eight to 10 miles down river.
Karen Reed, the mother of Ed and Brian Reed, said investigators found her son's shoes and jacket. She said the car the man ran from belonged to another brother.
