Slumbering Love

I went to Camden Yards tuesday night for the first game of the
Oriole-Yankees series.
As I watched the happy, excited Yankee fans file into the stadium, I
felt a little sad.
I remember the way it used to be at Oriole Park. In the early to mid
nineties, it was hard to find a ticket, there were years of consecutive
sellouts. John Eisenberg was writing for the Sun in those days, and he
used to refer to Baltimore as The City Of The Baseball Monster.

It all seems so long ago.

I used to see the same look on the faces of O's fans as I see on those
of the Yankees now. It's still there, too. Slumbering perhaps, but there
just the same.
People in Baltimore and it's environs are dying to love this team again.
They just have to win.

As I've mentioned many times on the air, just imagine what it would be
like around here in September and October if the Birds were in
contention. The Ravens on sundays, the O's the rest of the week.
I want to experience that so bad.
