Silver Spring Transit Hub To Require Repair Work
SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) -- The opening date of a new transit hub in Silver Spring remains unclear as extensive repair work is still needed.
Montgomery County officials say that work, which includes ripping out two sections of the second floor, won't begin until late summer at the earliest.
The bus-and-train hub now carries a roughly $120 million price tag and is a few years behind schedule.
Patrick Lacefield, a spokesman for County Executive Isiah Leggett, tells The Washington Post that no taxpayer money will be spent on the repair work and that the county won't do any new appropriations.
