Sharlon Schoop Joining His Brother In Baltimore
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Another Schoop might be joining the Orioles this week.
The Orioles have summoned Triple-A Norfolk infielder Sharlon Schoop to Baltimore in case they need him during the game on Tuesday while third baseman Manny Machado serves the last two games of his four-game suspension.
Sharlon Schoop is the older brother of Orioles second baseman Jonathan Schoop. He isn't on the 40-man roster, but the Orioles are giving the Schoops a chance to play on the same major league team.
Schoop is batting .240/.284/.363 with six doubles, four home runs and 21 RBIs in 40 games.
The Orioles re-signed Schoop to a minor league deal in January.
The team is off Thursday, and Machado will return to the 25-man roster for Friday's series opener against the Rays in Baltimore.
