Woman Claiming To Have Bomb Arrested At Joint Base Andrews
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) -- A security incident was reported Thursday at Joint Base Andrews in Prince George's County.
At around 5:15 p.m., authorities say a woman walked into the visitor control center claiming to have a bomb strapped to her body.
Investigators quickly determined there was no explosive device on-scene, and the woman was taken into custody.
"Our people are our most valuable resource and we take every threat seriously," said Col. Brad Hoagland, 11th Wing and Joint Base Andrews commander. "Our first responders train for these types of scenarios on a regular basis. Fortunately, this incident was diffused quickly and was determined to be a false-alarm."
The main gate was on lockdown for a time. No flights were redirected.
