SEE IT: Riverfront, Glass Barn House On Sale For $1.7M In Maryland

MONKTON, Md. (WJZ) -- Sitting on the banks of Gunpowder River is a Monkton home made of glass.

"The glass is because nature's so beautiful, we wanted it to be, it's the effect of being in a tree house," said Pamela Parsons, who built and designed the house.

Parsons and her late husband designed it in 1990 and lived there for over 20 years.

"This land, by the way, used to be an old pony farm with abandoned ponies on it," Parsons said.

Now it's home to Alisa Goldsmith and her family. They've just listed the house for sale for $1.7 million.

Alisa is also the realtor, and when the listing went viral many called it a fishbowl.

"If this is a fishbowl, this is a fishbowl that I wanna be in- nobody is looking in we have complete privacy," Goldsmith said.

It has five bedrooms, five and a half baths, but not much wall space for artwork.

"As it turns out, you don't need any art because your art is all around you," she said.

To the future new owners, Alisa gives this warning.

"Buyers beware that the only problem with this house is that you never wanna leave," she said.
