Fans Wait For Hours To Greet Their Favorite Ravens
PIKESVILLE, Md. (WJZ)—Purple passion is taking over Baltimore. With the Super Bowl under two weeks away, Ravens fans are already pumped for the game.
Meghan McCorkell has more on the anticipation.
With the team back in town after their big win in New England, hundreds of fans are turning out to wish them luck.
A sea of fans waited for their Super Bowl superstars.
"It's going to be awesome, you know. I can't wait," said Rick Riegger.
Justin Tucker, Dennis Pitta, Jacoby Jones, Dannell Ellerbe and Torrey Smith all greeted Ravens Nation in Pikesville.
"[Torrey Smith] is a good wide receiver and one day I want to grow up and be one," said Blake Brooks.
Some waited in line for hours.
"I have several pictures. I have a helmet. I have my camera ready and I'm taking pictures," said Kim Zuromski.
"I'm so looking forward to us winning the Super Bowl! Go Ravens!" said Kara McCumber.
Fans are trying to help with the winning streak.
"I wear my Ray Lewis jersey every Sunday and I've got to eat the same things I've been eating just so they win," said Ben Foster.
In Pasadena, Ravens safety Bernard Pollard says the fans helped push the team this far.
"When it's all said and done, they're cheering, they're giving everything that they have. That says a lot for us and it's easy to play for that," Pollard said.
Frigid cold didn't stop them from painting the town purple again. The transformation Tuesday night was a Super Bowl logo on Federal Hill.
Some Ravens fans are planning to ditch this weather to go see the Super Bowl themselves. The phone was ringing nonstop at Sports Tickets Unlimited with fans heading to New Orleans.
"This is great. I mean, it's a trip of a lifetime. It's my bucket list that I'm living and doing," said Ron Pusloskie.
A dream many hope ends in victory.
By the way, Tuesday was also Ray Rice's 26th birthday. This will be his first trip to the Super Bowl and that is quite a present.
The Ravens are also dominating newsstands. Three new Sports Illustrated covers featuring the team will debut Thursday. One showcases Ray Lewis and another the Harbaugh brothers.
