Prince George's County Taking School Board Vacancy Applications

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- There's now more time to apply to join the Board of Education in Prince George's County.

Prince George's County Executive Rushern Baker has extended the date applications are due for residents interested in filling a vacancy on the board. A position on the 14-member board is open following the resignation of District 9 Board Member Donna Hathaway Beck.

Baker is required by law to appoint someone who lives in District 9 to fill the seat. The district covers the southern part of the county.

All applications must now be postmarked by the close of business Monday.
