Pre-Trial Motions Set to Begin for 5th Officer Charged Gray Case

BALTIMORE (WJZ)—A fifth Baltimore officer is set to stand trial in connection the death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray.

Gray died on April 19, 2015 after suffering a severe spinal cord injury while in Baltimore police custody.

Pre-trial motions in the trial of Officer Garrett Miller is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. on July 27, 2016 before Baltimore Circuit Court Judge Barry Williams.

Miller is facing charges of second-degree assault, misconduct in office and reckless endangerment.

Four Baltimore officers have stood trial in connection to Gray's death. Three have since been acquitted by  Judge Williams: Officer Edward NeroOfficer Caesar Goodson Jr. and Lt. Brian Rice.
