Prince George's Police Probe 6th Killing This Year

OXON HILL, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County police are investigating their sixth homicide in the first five days of the new year.

Police spokeswoman Cpl. Erica Johnson says officers were called to an apartment building in the 1300-block of Southview Drive in Oxon Hill about 9 p.m. Wednesday, where they found a man who had been shot to death. Police have not released the victim's age or identity.

Authorities say there have been five other homicides in the county this year, two of which appear to be related.

Police had not made any arrests in the killings. Interim police chief Mark Magaw says the homicides do not appear to be random acts.

County Executive Rushern Baker says he's confident the police chief is doing everything he can to solve the homicides, and will ensure he gets any additional resources he might need.
