Police: Man Dead After Maryland To D.C. Chase, Police Shootout

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Authorities say a man was killed in a shootout with police after leading officers from Maryland on a pursuit into southeast Washington.

D.C. police spokeswoman Aquita Brown says the man has died. Brown says Monday night's chase came after an armed carjacking.

Police say Prince George's County and Forest Heights officers chased a car into the city, where a man bailed out and shots were fired. No officers were reported injured.

Late Tuesday, Prince George's County police identified the officers who fired at the man as Christopher Malinowski and Anthony Sciaretta. Both are on routine administrative leave.

Forest Heights' police chief did not respond to a phone message seeking comment.
