Police: Kingpin Arrested, $650,000 Cash Seized In Lochearn Drug Bust

LOCHEARN, Md. (WJZ)—Baltimore City Police say they've nabbed the leader of a lucrative drug cartel doing significant business in West Baltimore. Police found drugs and more than a half million dollars total stashed through several homes.

Rochelle Ritchie has the story.

Police say Thomas Linwood Jones, 44, stored nearly $400,000 inside of a Lochearn home.

"During the course of a two-month span, our detectives were able to execute approximately four search warrants in Baltimore County," said Det. Brandon Echebarria, Baltimore City Police.

Baltimore City Police have been investigating a drug scheme they say was operated by Jones since November of last year, calling him a large-scale cocaine and heroin distributor.

Last week, Baltimore County Police assisted in the investigation, issuing a search warrant on four homes, including a home on Lugine Avenue and on Cedar Heights Court.

More than half a million dollars in cash has been found so far.

"We have children now in the neighborhood, and it's dangerous now," said Edna Conigoand, resident.

Residents who live in the neighborhood say while it may appear peaceful and quiet, they've seen plenty of drug activity.

"I've witnessed it, transactions going down or whatever from some people in the neighborhood," said Chanelle Poole, resident.

The search warrants led to the discovery of heroin and cocaine-- a total of 9 kilograms seized. Police say, in all, $650,000 cash in drug money was confiscated.

Jones is now facing 16 drug-related charges. He remains in a Baltimore County jail without bond.
