ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (WJZ) -- Police are investigating a fatal crash in Howard County.

It happened around 3 a.m. Saturday on Columbia Road near Hemlock Cone Way in Ellicott City.

Police say a Chevy Cruze was traveling southbound when it left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a tree.

The passenger, 21-year-old Audrey Birmingham, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, 24-year-old Daniel Lipscomb, was taken to Shock Trauma with non-life threatening injuries.

No charges have been filed at this time.
