Perry Hall High School placed on lockdown after two threats including AI-generated gun video

Perry Hall High School in Baltimore County was placed on a Lockout and Lockdown after two separate school threats on Friday morning, according to Perry Hall Principal, Abbey Campbell

Around 9:00 a.m., the Baltimore County Police Department notified school administrators that threats of violence had been made toward the school.

BCPD, School Resource Officers, and staff from the BCPS Department of School advised the school to activate their Lockout protocol, in which no one was permitted to enter or exit the building. Police officers, as well as staff from the Department of School Safety, also responded to the campus to provide additional support.

A second incident then prompted the school to go into lockdown status, where a video showed a student in possession of a gun. However, administrators determined that the video was AI-generated and that there was no immediate threat to the campus.

The lockdown was then lifted, allowing movement through the building to be resumed around 9:10 a.m.

The Lockout Status stayed in effect until BCPD confirmed that the suspect from the initial threat had been detained and was in police custody.

Normal school operations resumed at 9:35 a.m.
