Owner Of Car Detailing Service Indicted On Fraud Charge

BALTIMORE (AP) -- The owner of a vehicle detailing company has been indicted on charges of defrauding a car rental company of more than half a million dollars.

Forty-six-year-old Lawrence Coleman of Reisterstown was indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury in Baltimore.

According to the indictment, Coleman owned and operated Perfection Plus Auto Detailing and had previously worked for Avis Rent a Car. Prosecutors say Coleman's company had a contract with Avis to prepare cars for rental at BWI Airport.

The indictment alleges that Coleman submitted false invoices to Avis for work that was not done. Prosecutors say Coleman used his knowledge as a former Avis employee to avoid scrutiny, such as submitting individual invoices for than $1,000.
