Orioles Hope To Add Guerrero To Revamped Roster

BALTIMORE (AP) -- The Baltimore Orioles have undergone radical changes during the offseason, and they still hope to add a few more players to the mix -- most notably designated hitter Vladimir Guerrero.

Club president Andy MacPhail confirmed Saturday that the team has made an offer to Guerrero, a free agent who last season hit .300 with 29 homers and 115 RBIs for the AL champion Texas Rangers.

When told that fans and the local media were wondering about the possibility of adding Guerrero, MacPhail replied, "We're wondering too, to some degree."

MacPhail says he's in discussions with representatives of at least three other players.
