Nebraska Firefighters Rescue 120-Pound Great Dane Stuck In Tree
ELMWOOD, NE. (WJZ)—Emergency crews in Nebraska made a big rescue last weekend: a Great Dane stuck in a 20-foot tree.
"While we were responding, we were admittedly somewhat skeptical, firefighters said. "Upon arrival, sure enough, there she was. A 120-pound Great Dane about 20 feet up in the tree."
The Elmwood Volunteer Fire station, Plattsmouth Volunteers Fire Department, and other local emergency crews acted quickly and the dog escaped unharmed.
The Plattsmouth Volunteer Fire Department said the initial plan was to get a harness on the dog and see if he would follow a friend of the owner back down the tree, but that didn't work to well. "
"The next plan was to attach a long leash to the harness and lower the dog to the ground," said the department.
It's unknown how the dog got stuck in the tree in the first place.
"This is one of those calls that had a great outcome and will not soon be forgotten," the Plattsmouth Volunteer Fire Department said.
