Most Indispensable-NFC North

In the second series of my 'most indispensable' players list I look at the NFC North, who as we saw last night as the Green Bay Packers looked great against the Indianapolis Colts, have a legitimate Super Bowl contender. Add a 20 year Vet with every record in the book, and you've got yourself an interesting race for the division.

 Green Bay Packers

 Scouts Inc-Charles Woodson-CB

 My Pick:

Again, I'll have to agree with the original article as Charles Woodson proved to be irreplaceable last year as he revived his once "Heisman" career while leading a young Packers defense and capturing the leagues Defensive Player of the Year award in the process. With Al Harris coming back from injury and a secondary that struggled, it will be important to keep the "revived" Woodson on the field. This young defense also could not afford to lose one of their more experienced players, if they truly plan to live up to their Super Bowl expectations.

 Minnesota Vikings

 Scouts Inc-Kevin Williams-DT

 My Pick:

I could not disagree with their choice any more than I do now, as I think the clear choice is on the defensive side of the ball but not at the DT position. I'll instead go with an edge rusher as the only weakness this defense has shown was in coverage. Without Jared Allen making life miserable for any apposing Quarterback, this defense could turn average very quickly. Jared Allen is a game changer and momentum killer as his pressure is key to that defense.

 Chicago Bears

 Scouts Inc-Tommie Harris-DT

 My Pick:

While I agree with Tommie Harris as a legitimate pick here, I will use a different approach as to my selection. As we would all agree, this team will go as does Jay Cutler and the biggest problem Cutler has had was with protection. With the Arrival of Mike Martz and the promise of a much improved offense, it will be hugely important to keep Jay comfortable, and for that very reason I will go with LT Chris Williams. Chris Williams was drafted to be that franchise Left Tackle and now that the Bears have a franchise Quarterback they might want to protect him. My choice is based solely on the potential his effectiveness can bring.

 Detroit Lions

 Scouts Inc-Calvin Johnson-WR

 My Pick:

If we're talking about importance to a team, there is no way I could disagree with Calvin Johnson here. I have long expressed my belief in him and strongly consider him to be the absolute scariest Wide Out in the league. His size and athleticism is simply impossible to handle one on one. Game plans will be changed in order to limit his touches, and without him on the field, defenses could key in on the run making it difficult on an already inexperienced Quarterback.
