19 Rescued From Elevator At Washington Monument
WASHINGTON (WJZ) -- More than a dozen people are rescued from the elevator at the Washington Monument.
According to WUSA, 19 people were stuck on the elevator Tuesday at 280 feet.
Twenty-three others were stranded on the observation level.
Firefighters were able to safely remove those from the elevator.
Everyone was evacuated via the stairs.
The Washington Monument is currently closed. It will remain closed until further notice.
