Mom Charged After Her 4-year-old Daughter Dies In Fire

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Baltimore Police have charged a woman whose young daughter died in a fire after she allegedly left her three toddlers alone in her apartment.

Officers said in a news release that 25-year-old Brittany Montgomery was arrested Monday and charged with manslaughter, child neglect and leaving minors unattended.

Montgomery's three children, ages 1, 3 and 4, were injured in the fire in an apartment on Dartmouth Road on Aug. 28. The 4-year-old, Szki Wright, died from her injuries.

Detectives say Montgomery left her children alone and was visiting friends when the fire broke out. The cause of the fire has not been reported.

A phone number could not be found for Montgomery, who was released on bail. Online court records don't list an attorney.
