Stations Reopen After Metro Train Halted For Smoke
FOREST GLEN, Md. (AP) -- The Forest Glen and Wheaton stations are reopening on Metro's red line after a train was evacuated for smoke in the tunnel near Forest Glen in Maryland.
Metro says trains started moving through the area again shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Montgomery County fire department spokesman Capt. Oscar Garcia says firefighters were called to the station about 2:20 p.m. for reports of smoke. A six-car train made it to the station safely and was evacuated. A train operator was treated for smoke inhalation.
Trains were halted near the station for nearly two hours.
Metro says the smoke was caused by a brake malfunction.
