Metro To Close Early Every Night Starting Next Month For Repairs
WASHINGTON (WJZ) -- Metro will soon be altering its schedule to begin repairs on Washington's subway system.
Beginning Friday, June 3, Metro will close at midnight every night to implement "SafeTrack." The yearlong subway rebuilding project addresses FTA and NTSB safety recommendations.
Officials say the plan will reduce the risk of fire and smoke on the tracks.
The last night with a 3 a.m. closing time will be Saturday, May 28.
