Metro Police: Additional Patrols After Brussels Attacks
WASHINGTON (AP) -- After explosions at the Brussels airport and on its subway system, police for Washington's transit system say they're boosting patrols.
Metro Transit Police tweeted that there's "no known, specific or credible threat" to the transit system, but as a precaution, they'll be conducting additional patrols and sweeps with police dogs starting Tuesday morning. Transit police say they're closely monitoring the events in Brussels with federal partners.
In a statement, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority says Reagan National and Dulles International have robust security, both visible and behind-the-scenes and its priority is the safety and security of passengers and employees. The authority says it constantly trains workers and evaluates procedures with federal and local partners to make adjustments based on new information.
