Men Hurt By Lightning Released From Hospital
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A week after two men were injured when lightning struck along the Severn River in Annapolis, they are leaving the hospital and starting rehabilitation.
The father of 23-year-old Alex Steele tells The Capital that his son was released from Anne Arundel Medical Center on Wednesday and 19-year-old John Conner Benson was released Thursday morning.
The men were found unconscious and not breathing on a beach on July 10 and spent nearly two days in medically induced comas. Witnesses reported seeing lightning strike the beach, but it has not been confirmed whether the men were directly struck.
Steele's father, Ron, says his son will spend a few days at Sinai Hospital's traumatic brain injury unit and Benson will enter a rehabilitation program in Utah, where his parents live.
