Maryland Weather: Monitoring hot days ahead
BALTIMORE --- With the storms gone for now, we have much calmer and drier conditions in Maryland.
The National Weather Service is sending out teams to take stock of storm damage to determine if any tornadoes touched down during Monday's storms.
As for today, it will be noticeably less humid than yesterday, but we are still expecting highs in the lower 90s.
The rest of the week will be quite hot and humid, so at times we will be dealing with some rather oppressive heat outside.
Looking ahead to the rest of the week, the heat will crank up even higher than today.
On Wednesday and Thursday, we're looking at 90-degree temperatures, part of the longest stretch of heat we've seen this season.
The hottest day of the week will be Thursday. Actual temperatures will measure in the mid to upper 90s, but with the humidity factored in, it will feel a lot more like 100 to 105 degrees.
With another cold front moving through the area on Thursday, there will be chances for thunderstorms, which is why (along with the stifling heat), we have declared an Alert Day.
At times like these, it's a good reminder to stay hydrated, apply plenty of sunblock and find some shade or A/C when possible.
The heat continues Friday into the weekend, with Saturday seeing the hottest temps again in the mid-90s, with heat index values approaching 100.
