Maryland Police Makes Arrests In Cocaine Network

CENTREVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say they've arrested more than a dozen people in connection with a cocaine distribution network on the Eastern Shore.

Police said Tuesday they believe three of those arrested were involved in directing the operation. Police identified those three as 37-year-old Adrian Reed of Chestertown, 37-year-old Baraka Chauka of Barclay and 40-year-old Carlos Cain of Centreville.

Police say all three were arrested on different dates in May. Each faces drug charges including conspiring to import cocaine into the state, conspiring to possess cocaine and conspiring to distribute cocaine.

Officials say the group was arrested after a more than six-month investigation focusing on a cocaine distribution ring operating in Queen Anne's County. State police believe the three were importing powder and crack cocaine from Delaware and Pennsylvania.
