Man Killed While Pushing Truck In Southern Md.
CALIFORNIA, Md. (AP) -- Authorities say a man was struck and killed while trying to push his stalled pickup truck in an apparent attempt to jump-start it in St. Mary's County.
It happened Friday evening on Indian Bridge Road in California, Md. The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office says a driver came up from behind as Dennis Todd, 51, was pushing his truck, which had no lights illuminating it. The driver swerved to try to avoid the vehicle but had to swerve back because of traffic heading the other direction.
Todd was pronounced dead at the scene.
