Man Killed In May Machine Accident Identified
NORTH EAST, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police have identified a man who was killed last month when he was crushed by industrial machinery he was hauling.
Tuncay Tunc, 41, of St. Petersburg, Fla., died at a Delaware hospital after the accident on May 22 in the parking lot of the Chesapeake House Travel Plaza on Interstate 95 near North East.
Troopers say Tunc was hauling several pieces of machinery in a commercial truck when he heard a sound and pulled off the interstate to investigate.
Police say Tunc climbed onto the platform of a scissor lift and it started, rising and pinning him against the trailer's ceiling.
A man riding in the truck with Tunc called 911.
Troopers had to notify Tunc's father, who lives in the man's native Turkey.
