Speeding Driver Injured After Crashing Into Fire Hydrant, Tree

ARNOLD, Md. (WJZ) -- A man was injured Saturday when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed in Anne Arundel County.

Police say 23-year-old Nathan Johnson was speeding on southbound Ritchie Highway near Joyce Lane when he struck a fire hydrant and then hit a tree.

Johnson had to be extricated from the vehicle. He was flown to Shock Trauma in critical condition.

The fire hydrant was sheared off. Crews responded to shut the water off and to remove the tree.

At this time, no charges have been filed.
