Man Gets 2 Months In Md. Snowplow Death

PASADENA, Md. (AP) -- A 21-year-old snowplow driver involved in a fatal accident that killed a longtime Johns Hopkins University fencing coach will spend two months in jail.

Maximilian Bode pleaded guilty earlier this year to leaving the scene of the fatal accident in January. Bode was driving a pickup truck with a snow plow attached when he hit Richard Oles, 77, and did not stop. Oles had coached the Johns Hopkins fencing team for 45 years before he retired in 2003.

Oles was wearing dark clothing at the time of the crash and walking in the partially snow-covered street.

Bode was sentenced to three years in prison with all but 60 days suspended. After his release he will be on probation for three years and must complete 20 hours of community service.
