Man Facing Charges After Police Chase Ends With Crash On Bay Bridge

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) -- A man is facing a slew of charges after leading police on a chase and crashing into another vehicle on the Bay Bridge.

Jonathan McFarland, 24, of Laurel, Delaware was charged overnight with 42 traffic violations.

Charges include fleeing and eluding, reckless and negligent driving, failure to stop at the scene of an accident, exceeding the speed limit and driving off the roadway while passing a vehicle.

The pursuit started in Baltimore County, when police say McFarland failed to pull over for a traffic stop. He was driving erratically.

Police say McFarland struck at least one vehicle on the outer loop of I-695.

Troopers again tried to stop him southbound on I-97. They followed McFarland onto the Bay Bridge, where he collided with a tractor trailer and came to rest.

McFarland was arrested. There were no reported injuries.

Police say the vehicle McFarland was driving is owned by his mother. It was not reported stolen.

McFarland was not wanted by police. It's not clear at this time why he refused to stop.
