Man Charged With Assaulting Md. Trooper
CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say a man assaulted a state trooper after trying to break into a sheriff's cruiser.
Terry Lynn Webber, 41, of Knoxville is charged with assault, attempt to disarm a police officer and other offenses. He is being held without bail.
Troopers say about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, Webber tried to enter a sheriff's cruiser in downtown Cumberland. A state trooper saw Webber and tried to arrest him.
Authorities say Webber struggled with the trooper, attempting to take his service weapon, until he was subdued by pepper spray.
The Times-News of Cumberland reports that the trooper was treated and released at a local hospital.
