Lowe's Won't Open Store At 25th Street Station
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Home-improvement retailer Lowe's says it has dropped plans to build a store at a proposed retail and housing development project in Baltimore.
Stacey Lentz, a spokeswoman for Lowe's Cos. Inc., wrote in an e-mail to The Baltimore Sun that the company decided several weeks ago to not open a store at the 25th Street Station in Remington. She says the decision was unrelated to Monday's announcement that Lowe's was closing 20 underperforming stores in 15 states.
The stores being closed are not in Maryland.
Wal-Mart tells the newspaper that it still plans to open a store at the 25th Street Station. A lawyer for the developer of the project says it will move ahead without Lowe's.
