Last Day For Md. Tax Break On Some Appliances
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) -- If you're in the market for a new household appliance, Monday is the day to go out and buy it.
Mary Bubala reports through the end of the day, Marylanders can avoid paying the state's 6 percent sales tax by buying select energy-efficient, Energy Star products.
Eligible products include air conditioners, washing machines and dryers, furnaces and refrigerators. Energy-efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs, dehumidifiers and programmable thermostats are also eligible.
The tax-free weekend is the result of legislation passed in 2007 by the Maryland General Assembly.
