Hogan Makes Appointments To School Testing Review Panel

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Gov. Larry Hogan has made appointments to a standardized testing review panel.

Hogan announced Tuesday that the chair of the commission will be Christopher Berry, who is principal of James Hubert Blake High School in Frederick County. The governor appointed a dozen people to the panel.

The 19-member Commission to Review Maryland's Use of Assessments and Testing in Public Schools was created this year by legislation. Its first meeting will be held Nov. 17.

The panel is tasked with reviewing time spent in each grade and in each system on administering tests. It's also going to review the purpose of local, state and federally mandated assessments and other matters related to school testing.

It will make recommendations based on its findings.
