HoCo Elementary School Employee Charged With Theft

ELKRIDGE, Md. (WJZ) -- Howard County police have charged a Ducketts Lane Elementary School employee with theft after they say she stole nearly $9,000 from the school.

Police say Twyla Renee Blackmon-Green faces 16 counts of theft from the school. According to police, she took money that had been collected for field trips, book sales and fundraisers. The school says she stole a new shredder, as well. The alleged thefts occurred between November 2014 and October 2015.

The school contacted police after discovering discrepanies in account ledgers.

School system officials say she is no longer an employee.

Her court appearance is scheduled for March 10.
