Hawkins Scores 16, Hits Late FTs; Towson Beats James Madison

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Byron Hawkins hit 6 of 6 free throws in the final 45 seconds and finished with 16 points to help Towson hold off James Madison for a 69-67 win Thursday night.

Timajh Parker-Rivera had 13 points with nine rebounds, while Mike Morsell and Josh Ivory scored 11 apiece for Towson.

Hawkins, who made 11 of 13 foul shots overall, hit 3 of 4 after a pair of technical fouls were called on James Madison's Tom Vodanovich to give the Tigers (20-10, 11-6 Colonial Athletic Association) a 58-46 lead with 3:41 left.

Ron Curry scored 17 of his 20 points -- including a 4-point play -- in the final 2:58 and his pair of free throws with 16 seconds to go pulled JMU (20-10, 10-7) within three, but Hawkins hit all four of his foul shots from there to seal it.

Towson is tied with William & Mary for third in the CAA standing with one game to go.
