Glenn Younes: What I Think The Ravens Need

Here is an updated list of what I think the Ravens needs are as of April 3rd 2012.

C, MLB / LB, S, LG, LT, WR, DE/DT... If this looks familiar it is, it's about the same as it was before free agency i.e. very few Ravens moves.

Center: Birk is coming back, he signed a 3 yr deal, but don't caught up in the years of the deal, that's a way to spread out money. Birk is a great person but at tail end of his career and that's saying it nicely. The Ravens need a replacement, might be the 1st round pick in 2012. Then Birk becomes mentor, his perfect role but that's means the center position is in the hands of a 22 years old rookie.

MLB / LB: Jameel McClain is back along with Ellerbe too and while that provides stability and familiarity it doest make that aging core with Ray Lewis at the helm any better or younger. This is a position they need to continue growing.

Safety: Haruki went to Carolina and Zibby to Indy to play for coach Pagano. Wile both were backups and special teams guys they provided solid depth in several areas not just safety. Haruki played nickel when needed and Zibby was a nice option if needed in a pinch to return kick and or punts. Not sure what Considine and Graham will do but they won't be the air apparent to #20 if / when he figures it how much longer he wants to be in purple and black. Safety Needs depth and youth. Reed wants to keep playing and likely will but plans need to be in place for the next few years after.

LG - Grubbs is gone to New Orleans and only for a few million more over the next five years than what Yanda got. Bad job by his agent to not get more on the open market and to not give the Ravens one last shot. The team keeps telling us Jah Reid is the favorite to play left guard but he'sVERY raw at guard. Despite reports of his last season success in practice I'm very nervous about the left side...

LT: Big Mc is a very short term solution & if Jah is playing LG, who's our LT backup w/ versatility? Need a Tackle and a Guard to help with depth.

WR: Need another spread field guy, redzone threat, fade guy. Later rounds 3-7 ballpark.

DT/DE: Even though JJ went west to the Chargers. The teams feels the replacement for Johnson and Redding, who went to the Colts, is already in the roster. Names like Kruger, Jones, McPhee, Kindle among the many should be able to fill the void.

While there are other needs, of course, these are where I feel the most attention is needed.
