Firefighters battle large fire in East Baltimore's Belair-Edison neighborhood

BALTIMORE - Firefighters battled a three-alarm fire Wednesday night in the Belair-Edison neighborhood in East Baltimore.

The fire happened around 10:30 p.m. in the 3500 block of Belair Road.

A two-story vacant building had heavy fire conditions when firefighters arrived.

A Baltimore City Fire spokesperson said companies began an attack on the fire and in the interim the fire became more intense when companies placed ladder pipes in service.

The incident commander requested a second alarm of fire and subsequently a third alarm to have adequate resources on the scene to minimize the spread and limit damage to nearby structures.

There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
