Film 'Follow Me' On 1976 Israeli Raid Debuts In D.C.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Two Maryland filmmakers are releasing a new movie about the story of scholar and poet Yonatan Netanyahu who became an Israeli war hero in a raid in Uganda to save hostages.

The film, "Follow Me: The Yoni Netanyahu Story" makes its theatrical premiere Friday at Washington's Avalon Theatre through May 10. The film is directed by Jonathan Gruber and Ari Daniel Pinchot of Silver Spring, Md. It has a national release May 18.

"Follow Me" tells the story of the story of the Harvard-educated, 30-year-old soldier who was Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's older brother. Yoni Netanyaho was the lone Israeli fatality in the 1976 raid in Uganda that freed over 100 hostages from a hijacking.

The film features interviews with three Israeli prime ministers and audio from the raid.
